The ASEAN Regulatory Co-operation Platform (ARCP) Mini Webinars 2024 kicked off with an interesting session titled “Knowledge Building on Chemical Management,” held on August 28, 2024, using the digital conference platform MS Teams. This event brought together industry leaders and regulatory experts from the ASEAN Member States, Japan, EU to share insights and foster collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region. Among the presentations was Ms. Patricia Muñoz and Ms. Maria Chiara Detragiache’s insightful discussion on the proposed EU Restriction on PFAS under REACH, providing valuable information for the chemical sector. Dr. Jeff Li from Procter & Gamble offered a comparison of New Chemical Notification Systems across the Asia-Pacific, shedding light on the varying approaches to chemical regulation. Additionally, Helen HuangFu’s presentation on “Compare & Contrast Polymer Notification Systems in the Asia-Pacific” presented a comprehensive view of the complex regulatory landscape governing polymers.
Jointly organized by the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), American Chemistry Council (ACC), European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), and Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA), with the backing of ASEAN Chemical Industries Council (ACIC) and the AMS of Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, this series of webinars aims to enhance understanding and facilitate harmonization of chemical management practices. The ARCP’s commitment to knowledge sharing and regulatory cooperation sets the stage for a future of robust chemical governance in the region.
