
04 Jun PCIR Subworking Group’s June Meeting Focuses on Business-Ease Initiatives and Chemical Industry Regulation Updates
The PCIR Sub-Working Group on Ease of Doing Business meeting was held last June 04, 2025 at the Board of Investements (BOI), Makati City with representatives from the Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK), Association of Petrochemical Manufacturers of the Philippines (APMP), and BOI present. Among the important items taken up were the status of the priority projects such as the detailed line by line review of the proposed amendments to the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of PNP Controlled Chemicals. This review seeks to simplify the rules and strengthen the competitiveness of the Philippine chemicals industry.
Additionally, the FDA Household Urban Hazardous Substances (HUHS) status was also discussed as it relates to compliance needs of the industry. The team also covered the issues of the 100% mandatory declaration for composition on Safety Data Sheets (SDS) during the importation process.
The gathering of business and government leaders further demonstrated their commitment to promoting a favorable business environment conducive and supportive to the growth and development of the chemical industry, but at the same time ensuring the preservation of safety and health standards. More dialogues and collaboration are on the way to make policies and regulations more appropriate and the industry more efficient and competitive.
