Chemical Transport Security (CTS) Workshop

The chemical transport security workshop concluded last October 29, 2020. The eight-session program was facilitated by Mr. Tahir Qadir of  CEIC Sustainable Solutions FZE and Mr. Chris Sherwood of ASYMETRA, both are chemical security experts from Dubai.

The keynote address was delivered entitled “The Need for Chemical Security and Capacity Building in the Philippines” by Dr. Irma Makalinao,  a professor at Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of UP-Manila College of Medicine followed by opening messages from Health Security Partners (HSP), US Chemical Security Engagement Program and SPIK.

Thirteen individuals from the Mindanao region  participated the webinar workshop that featured discussions on Responsible Care, Fundamentals of Chemical Transport Security, Product Stewardship and Chemical Transportation Security, The Distribution and Security Codes, and Security Risk Assessments, Identifying Stakeholders in the Chemical Value Chain among other topics. Engr. Geri Sanez of EMB and Ms. Judy Olvido from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were among the local speakers presenting the regulatory framework for hazardous waste management and controlled precursors and essential chemicals.
