DENR Driving National Action with the Launch of the Philippine Plastic Roadmap 2026–2040

On 25 September 2026, the Philippines officially launched the Philippine National Plastic Action Roadmap 2026–2040 in Makati City. This event marked a significant milestone in the country’s commitment to addressing plastic pollution through a coordinated, multi-sectoral approach. The Roadmap, developed under the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aligned government laws, policies, and programs with national and regional ambitions for a circular economy.

The launch event featured opening remarks by Mr. Peter Quintana of the National Solid Waste Commission, a keynote address by DENR Secretary Juan Miguel T. Cuna, and messages of support from international partners, including the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), UNDP, WEF, the UK, Norway. Netherlands, and Canadian governments, and The Coca-Cola Foundation. A key highlight was the presentation of the abridged Roadmap, detailing its vision and strategic priority outcomes.
