Consultative Meeting on the Third Tranche of Priority Chemical List (PCL)

SPIK attended the first consultative meeting on the third tranche of PCL organized by the DENR-EMB on November 24, 2016 at the Air Quality Management Building, DENR Compound.

EMB presented the proposed list to be incorporated in the Priority Chemical List (PCL) based from the study conducted by Tetra Tech EM Inc., of which thirty (30) chemicals were assessed on the primary criteria on bioaccumulation, persistence and toxicity and their potential risks to human and the environment.

According to the EMB, The sources of the 3rd version of PCL were based from 5 countries regulating such substances.  These countries were considered because of their tedious studies for chemicals, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Canada and Denmark-EU.

The meeting chaired by Ms. Emmanuelita Mendoza, Chief of the Chemicals Management Section of the EMB, was also attended by representatives from the DOLE-BWC, EMB- Hazardous Waste Section, Bureau of Customs, DENR-EMB Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Section, DENR- EMB Environmental Laboratory Section and chemical industry.
