The Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (EMB- DENR) in cooperation with the Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK) conducted a one (1) day “Seminar on the Globally Harmonized System on the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) at Bayfront Hotel Cebu on May 13, 2016.

The seminar was conducted to provide an overview, basic concepts and principles of GHS. Ms. Millete Mendoza of the Chemical Management Section (CMS) of EMB Central also discussed the salient features of the DENR Administrative Order 2015-09 Rules and Procedures for the Implementation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) in Preparation of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Labelling Requirements of Toxic Chemical Substances which was issued on May 19, 2015.

Mr. Renato T. Cruz, Chief of the Environmental Quality Division (EQD), said that EMB had been actively promoting GHS to the different stakeholders and thanked SPIK for the partnership in this activity. He further encouraged the delegates to participate in the discussions and the workshop.

Ms. Cynthia Reyes, Ms. Dall Palisoc, Ms. Gretchen Fontejon- Enarle and Mr. Jonathan Chong served as Resource Speakers in the said seminar which was attended by more than eighty (80) participants from the government and industry.
