National Truckers Forum on Road Safety

SPIK and member company representatives were invited to the DOTC and FEDERATION OF PHILIPPINE INDUSTRIES forum last May 14, 2014 at AFP Commissioned Officers Club, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. This was also co-sponsored by the Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines (CTAP) and Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP).

The forum’s aim is to get all the stakeholders commitment to do its best to decrease the number of road accidents and incidents in the Philippines. Shell Philippines shared its best practices and contract templates that can be adopted so that the truckers they use will follow road safety guidelines. La Farge Cement also shared on how they monitor and train all their contract haulers’ driver. They also provide for the utilities needed to ensure that the drivers do not exceed the 12 hours per day limit in driving. They also showed how they got the commitment of their service providers to practice safety at all times.

The forum was capped with the signing on the memorandum of understanding among the sponsors on practicing road safety.
