Public Consultation on the Draft Administrative Order on the Regulation of Household / Urban Hazardous Substances (HUHS)

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a nationwide public consultation on the draft Administrative Order (AO) on the regulation of Household/Urban Hazardous Substances in 3 Regions- Region III, Region VII and Region IV-A on January 26 and 27, 2017.

The salient features of the draft A.O on HUHS which intend to repeal A.O. 2015-0038 issued on September 08, 2015 on Removing the Requirements of Licensing as Importers, Exporters, Manufacturers, Toll Manufacturers, Wholesalers, Distributors, Retailers, or Re-packers of those engaged in Certain Household / Urban Hazardous Substances, and from the requirement of prior registration and/ or notification of said products, were presented by Ms. Maria Theresa M. Gutierrez of FDA.

Representatives from the Philippine Association of Paint Manufacturers (PAPM), Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK), Soap and Detergent Association of the Philippines (SDAP), Philippine Stationers Association (PSA) and Filipino- Chinese Federation Chamber of Commerce attended the said public consultation.

The FDA requested the industry associations to submit position papers when the participants expressed their dissenting opinion on the said draft A.O.
