The consultation, held on September 10, 2024, via Zoom, brought together a collaborative effort from nine government agencies with the Secretary of the Department of Finance (DOF) at the helm. SPIK’s Executive Director, Engr. Jeffrey G. Mijares, participated in the session, which aimed to gather insights and feedback from various stakeholders.

The event saw an engaging Q&A format, where attendees could submit their queries through a chat box, ensuring all voices were heard. The proposed JAO is set for full implementation in two years, and SPIK remains vigilant in advocating for the chemical industry’s concerns, especially regarding the potential impact on the import-dependent sector. The association anticipates a significant transformation in the industry’s trade landscape with the adoption of this innovative system, which is poised to enhance efficiency and transparency in cross-border transactions. The robust exchange of ideas and concerns underscores the importance of stakeholder involvement in shaping policies that affect the country’s economic growth and competitiveness.
