The Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK) recently took part in a significant gathering hosted by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Chemical Sciences Division (X). This collaborative endeavor, held on August 9, 2024, at the Marine Sciences Institute AVR, UP Diliman and via Zoom, brought together key figures from chemistry academic units, professional societies, and industrial sectors. The purpose of the meeting was to explore opportunities that would strengthen education, training, and research in chemical sciences nationwide, while also pushing for relevant policies and advocacies in line with the Philippine Chemical Industry Roadmap (PCIR).

Dr. Gisela P. Concepcion, the Division X Chair, warmly received SPIK and other attendees for an insightful discussion on innovative solutions tailored to the chemical industry’s needs. Dr. Fabian Dayrit, President of the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP) and Professor at the Ateneo de Manila University’s Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Soledad Castaneda, Member of Chemistry Board also graced the event, lending their expertise to the conversation. Engr. Albert A. Samuela, SPIK’s Vice President for External Affairs, represented the association in this gathering.

Through this strategic alliance, SPIK and NRCP Chemical Sciences Division X are poised to foster a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange, innovation, and policy development, contributing to the advancement of the local chemical industry.
