SPIK marked another milestone in the history of the chemical industry, together with its 75 members again signified their support and commitment to the Responsible Care® Global Charter last June 29, 2019 at the Acacia Hotel in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) first published the RC Global Charter in 2006 which features 9 elements to have a unified commitment to Responsible Care around the world.

8 years from its original publication, the Responsible Care® Global Charter was revised in 2014 to address ongoing stakeholder expectations and evolving challenges, and to enable industry to speak with a common voice about its global commitments. The enhanced Responsible Care® Global Charter now features the 6 elements:

  1.  A Corporate Leadership Culture;
  2. Safeguarding People and the Environment;
  3. Strengthening Chemicals Management Systems;
  4. Influencing Business Partners;
  5. Engaging Stakeholders; and
  6. Contributing to Sustainability

Responsible Care is the voluntary commitment by the global chemical industry to drive continuous improvement and achieve excellence in environmental, health and safety and security performance. Since its launched in 1985, Responsible Care is now practiced in more than 60 countries around the world.

In 2012, SPIK members first signed the declaration of support and public commitment.
