20 Apr SPIK participates in the PCAPI 36th National Annual Convention and General Assembly
The Pollution Control Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PCAPI) in coordination with the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) held their 36th National Annual Convention and General Assembly of Pollution Control Officers (PCOs) on April 13-15, 2016 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
The convention topics presented during the 3-day convention provided informative discussions and learning to PCOs. New technologies and innovations were introduced aligned with this year’s convention theme: The PCO’s Role in Sustainability: Inspiration and Solution, current business situation and international best practices. It was a well-attended gathering with around 300 participants.
Among the invited Resource Speakers was Ms. Cynthia Reyes, a member of the Responsible Care Council, who presented Responsible Care: A Voluntary Initiative. The topics were divided into four (4) sessions which included session on sustainability, regulatory updates and business initiatives, chemical and hazardous waste management and energy and climate change and disaster management.
The winners of the PCAPI Environmental Awards were also recognized for the following categories: The Outstanding Pollution Control Officer (TOPCO), Success Story, Mother Nature and Outstanding PCAPI Chapter. The awarding ceremony was led by Atty. Jonathan Bulos- EMB Director Region VI, Mr. Joseph Dinglasan- PCAPI President and Ms. Gretchen Fontejon- Enarle- PCAPI Awards Committee Chairman.
