The Small Working Group (SWG) 1 Industry-Academe of the Philippine Chemical Industry Roadmap held a virtual gathering on July 12, 2024, to initiate the meticulous planning for the anticipated Innovation Summit slated for October. This strategic event is poised to invigorate the collaboration between industry leaders and academic institutions, fostering a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange and technological advancement.

The session was ably steered by Mr. Ronaldo DC Buluran, the Acting Director of Manufacturing Industries Service, and Engr. Albert A. Samuela, the SPIK Vice President and SWG1 Lead. The assembly brought together esteemed representatives from various partner organizations and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), with Dr. Nathaniel P. Dugos President of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE). Notable attendees included Engr. Jesunino Aquino, the Dean of Chemical Engineering of Mapua Malayan Colleges of Laguna, Mr. Henry Siy from Chemrez Technologies, Inc., and Engr. Patrick Negrete representing the Philippine Coatings and Paint Association Inc. (PPCAI).

The collaborative spirit was notable as discussions focused on leveraging the collective expertise to bolster the nation’s chemical sector. The Summit, set to be supported by the Board of Investments (BOI), promises to be a pivotal platform for innovation and growth. The event’s coordination was expertly moderated by Ms. June Villasanta and Ms. Geraldine Buela, both Supervising Investments Specialists, ensuring a seamless and productive meeting that laid the groundwork for an insightful and impactful summit in the coming months.
