On May 24, 2024, the Responsible Care Council convened for a virtual meeting, led by Engr. Reinier Jay Bagabay, the Responsible Care Chairman of the Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK). The meeting was attended by an impressive lineup of volunteer experts in health, environment, safety, security, and sustainability from BASF-Philippines, Dow Chemical Philippines, JG Summit Olefins Corp. (JGSOC), TNC Chemicals Philippines Inc., Diversey Philippines Inc., Mabuhay Vinyl Corp. (MVC), DKSH, and Nalco Water, all united in their mission to promote Responsible Care and advance the cause of chemical safety and security, sustainability, and Responsible Care in the Philippine chemical industry.

The agenda for the meeting was extensive and ambitious, with topics ranging from the development of a comprehensive action plan for chemical safety and security to the implementation of innovative technologies and best practices in environmental protection and sustainable development. The participants engaged in lively discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, leveraging their diverse expertise and experiences to identify key challenges and opportunities in the industry.

One of the key highlights of the meeting was the discussion of a new initiative by the International Council of Chemical Associations, the “Updated Responsible Care Logo,” aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of Responsible Care and engaging stakeholders from various sectors in promoting safer and more secure chemical practices. Additionally, the upcoming activities on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) were also discussed.
