A 3-day training / workshop on GHS for Trainers in the Philippines was held on September 6-8, 2017 at the Acacia Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. It was implemented by the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships [AOTS] and in cooperation with the Chemical Industries Association of the Philippines [SPIK].

Lectures were provided by Mr. Mutsuo Wada of Japan Chemical Database Ltd. and Mr. Shigeki Miyachi of the HatoChemi Japan LLC. Participants were able to acquire knowledge and skills of GHS mixture classification through lectures and hands-on practices using the manual classification and GHS classification software. Topics were very timely with the implementation of GHS for mixtures in 2019 under the DAO 2015-09 Rules and Procedures for the Implementation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) in Preparation of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Labelling of Toxic Chemical Substances.

The Training Program is part of the Training Program for Improving the Business Environment related to Trade and Investment by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan. It was attended by industry representatives, BOI and regulators from DENR-EMB, FDA and DOLE- OHSC.
