Twenty one (21) Resource Persons were invited by the Technical Secretariat to share their expertise and exchange views in the field of chemical safety and security. The Resource Persons came from Algeria, Brazil, Belgium, China, Costa Rica, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Republic of South Korea, Niger, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom and United States of America including Resource Persons from international organizations such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Environment and United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

The Workshop included lectures and breakout sessions for the two groups formed: chemical safety and chemical security groups. The output of each group was integrated into a single document during the culmination of the 3-day workshop, the draft document “Indicative Guidelines for Chemical Safety and Security in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) was presented to Mr. Hamza Khelif, Director of the International Cooperation and Assistance Division and Mr. Junaid Sadiq, First Secretary, Embassy of Pakistan and to the Technical Secretariat.

The Chemical Safety Group was headed by Dr. Detlef Mannig from Germany with group members from Brazil, Costa Rica, Germany, Niger, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, OECD and UNE. While the  Chemical Security Group was led by Dr. Andrew Nelson from USA while members were from Algeria, Belgium, Indonesia, Italy, Pakistan, United Kingdom, MINUSCA.

The Workshop was held at the headquarters of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, The Netherlands on March 25- 27, 2019.
