It was organized in 1977 in Manila by chemical company executives who saw the need to strengthen their industry’s representation in the government, private, and even the international market
Championing the promotion, development and prosperity of the Philippine chemical industry with the active engagement of its members in the areas of advocacy, best practices sharing, Responsible Care and nation-building.
The global voluntary initiative of the chemical industry that commits its management policy to secure and protect the environment, health, safety and security (EHS&S) of its stakeholders.
SPIK has grown to having 75 member firms that represent the Philippines’ biggest chemical companies and major industry players. SPIK members are classified according to nine industry categories.
Our members are proud to be a part of an organization dedicated to improving and achieving global standards.
SPIK has gained recognition as an active participant and a collective voice on issues and concerns affecting, though not isolated, to the chemical industry. SPIK represents the industry through seats in various government technical working groups and committees, thus, serve the best interest of the industry, especially our members.
SPIK sponsors, organizes, and conducts seminars, workshops, conferences, and similar events. Members also get exclusive invitations to participate in these activities.
SPIK Members are kept updated on the latest laws, rules and regulations, various notices and circulars from different local government agencies that concern the industry through email blasts, newsletter, and social media platforms.
Local government agencies, foreign embassies and private companies contact SPIK for business tie-ups with member companies. SPIK’s serves as a portal to buyers all over the world searching for suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors from the Association’s list of members.
SPIK holds quarterly general membership meetings which are attended by representatives from member companies. SPIK itself is a member of other trade associations such as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Federation of Philippine Industry (FPI), and the Philippine Exporters Confederation (PhilExport). Thus, SPIK members also get the privileges of members to these associations.
SPIK coordinates with international agencies and organizations such as the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), CRDF Global, Health Security Partners (HSP), among others so that members can access information and best practices in the promotion of chemical safety and security along the supply chain as well as receive support for SPIK programs for the improvement of the chemical industry.
We participate in international or regional activities on environment, health, safety, security and sustainability so members can get the best possible exposure, be updated on the latest trends and news around the globe in the area of environment, health, safety, security and sustainability.
SPIK launched Responsible Care® a global initiative for the protection and improvement of the health, safety and environmental performance of the industry stakeholders and the environmental concern of the community in general.
