The 12th SPIK Bowling Tournament of 2024 at E-Lanes Bowling Center in San Juan City was a grand affair, bringing together the best of the chemical industry in a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition. This annual event serves as a refreshing escape from the rigors of corporate life, allowing bowling aficionados to showcase their skills while fostering unity and teamwork.

The tournament kicked off to a rousing start as the Executive Director Engr. Jeffrey G. Mijares, representing the esteemed President, graciously welcomed everyone. His heartfelt acknowledgment of the prestigious sponsors resonated throughout the venue, emphasizing the invaluable contribution the benefactors had made to the event. SPIK’s gratitude for their unwavering support and generosity were tangible, setting the stage for a competition fueled by camaraderie and a shared love for the sport, all made possible by the sponsors’ active engagement and commitment.

The atmosphere was electric as Engr. Dennis G. Tirthdas, the esteemed Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, made his grand entrance to officially commence the tournament. With a ceremonial flourish, he rolled the gleaming bowling ball down the lane, setting the stage for an epic competition. The resounding crack of pins colliding echoed through the alley as the ball curved gracefully into the strike zone. A round of applause erupted, signaling the start of an unforgettable evening filled with camaraderie, fierce rivalries, and the thunderous rhythm of rolling balls. The bowlers took their cues, eager to conquer the lanes in the wake of Engr. Tirthdas’ auspicious opening act.

The SPIK bowling tournament boasted a spectacular showdown of 15 teams hailing from 11 distinct member companies. This high-spirited tournament served as a riveting testament to the camaraderie and competitive zeal that thrives within the corporate community. Each team brought their A-game to the gleaming lanes, their eyes glinting with determination and excitement. This corporate clash not only showcased their bowling prowess but also reinforced the bonds of sportsmanship and friendship.

The generous sponsorship of All Waste Services, Inc., Pigmentex, Inc., Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation, Henkel Philippines, Inc., and Suntra International Trading, Co., Inc., brought to life an event where sustainability and creativity danced hand in hand, leaving a vibrant footprint of eco-consciousness and joy in the hearts of all who attended.  Each company’s commitment to the cause shimmered like the myriad hues of their products, blending seamlessly into a masterpiece of corporate social responsibility that painted a brighter future for our planet.

The nail-biting finale had everyone on the edge of their seats as Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation Team A and Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, Inc. Team A ended in a dramatic tie with 905 pinfalls each. The Ways and Means Committee Chairman and the Executive Director decided on a sudden death playoff to determine the champion. The Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation Team A emerged as the triumphant champions, claiming victory with an outstanding performance that left the audience in awe.

The competitive team of Pacific (Boysen) Philippines, Inc. secured the prestigious title of First Runner-Up, showcasing their exceptional skills and determination.

In a close and exhilarating race for the podium, Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation Team B managed to clinch the Second Runner-Up position, proving their mettle in the face of intense competition.

Ms. Michelle Solis from RI Chemicals Corporation wowed everyone with her prowess, earning the esteemed title of Highest Score Female. Her performance was a testament to her dedication and resilience, setting a benchmark for future female participants.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jerry Cham of Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, Inc. dominated the male category, achieving the Highest Score Male award. His masterful execution and unyielding spirit captivated the judges and spectators alike, solidifying his place as a formidable contender.

The event concluded with a round of applause and the awarding of certificates and trophies. The camaraderie and sportsmanship displayed by all participants were truly emblematic of the SPIK spirit. The Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, Director Dennis Tirthdas, ended the day with an invigorating speech, hinting at the much-anticipated Annual Golf Tournament in October at the Manila Golf and Country Club.

This year’s SPIK Bowling Tournament was not just about winning or losing, but about the shared experience of coming together, the joy of competition, and the celebration of a strong and vibrant industry.
