spik3-1The meeting on ARCP was held in conjunction with the 22nd Meeting of AMEICC Working Group on Chemical Industry (WG-CI) on July 4, 2017 at the Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was chaired by Ms. Cissie Yeung of the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC).

The ASEAN Regulatory Cooperation Project (ARCP) team led by the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) and Chemical Industry Council of Malaysia (CICM) provided the objectives and the project status. The team shared the concern of the rapidly changing regulatory environment and the divergence in the ASEAN region. There is an urgent need to look into regulatory cooperation to ensure the alignment on the requirements to avoid the increase of Non-Tariff Barriers (NTB) in the region. This initiative is noted by the ASEAN Member States (AMS) in the Meeting. The team also sought the support from AMS to actively participate in the ARCP as well as in the Virtual Working Groups (VWG) on GHS and national inventory.

The ARCP Team also reported on the activities in preparation of the workshop to be held in Singapore in November.
