The new SPIK Officers and Board of Directors led by President Dennis Tirthdas visited Dir. Jacqueline A. Caancan, the new Director of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) on February 07, 2017 in Quezon City.

Ms. Janet Marcellana who is currently the Responsible Care Chairman, re-affirmed the partnership between SPIK and DENR-EMB in the conduct of capacity building on the Globally Harmonized System on the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) in lieu of the implementation of High Volume Toxic Chemicals (HVCs) in 2017, Toxic chemicals under the IATA and IMDG list of Dangerous Goods in 2018 and Mixtures in 2019.

Ms. Emmanuelita Mendoza, Chief of the Chemical Management Section (CMS), also presented the different programs and activities of the EMB in 2017 that includes GHS Training for Regulators, public consultations on HVCs and IPOPs Project. She also confirmed the continuous participation of EMB in the ASEAN Regulatory Cooperation Project and the ASEAN-Japan Chemical Safety Database (AJCSD).
