The meeting between Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK), Philippine National Police- Firearms and Explosives Office (PNP-FEO), and the Department of Industry- Board of Investments (DTI-BOI) was a significant event held at the PNP-FEO Building, Camp Crame. The gathering was marked by an air of cordiality and enthusiasm as the three organizations came together to discuss matters of utmost importance for the advancement of the Philippine Chemical Industry Roadmap.

The meeting was chaired with enthusiasm by PCOL ERICSON C DILAG, Acting Chief of the PNP-FEO, who energetically welcomed the distinguished delegations led by Engr. Gretchen F. Enarle, President of SPIK, and Ms. June Villasanta, Supervising Management Specialist of DTI-BOI. The attendees collectively acknowledged the pressing issue of overlapping regulations between the PNP-FEO and Comelec during election periods, which has a significant impact on the movement of chemicals and disrupts the supply chain.

Following this, the group engaged in a lively discussion of proposed solutions to mitigate these issues. In particular, there was a fruitful exchange on the Terms of Reference for the formation of a Research and Development Team for the IRR of Controlled Chemicals. Additionally, the discussion touched upon the possibility of amending the current IRR regulations to better align with industry needs and concerns.

Throughout the meeting, the atmosphere was characterized by a strong sense of camaraderie and shared commitment to finding practical solutions to the challenges faced by the chemical industry. The dynamic exchanges between the participants demonstrated their deep understanding of the issues at hand and their dedication to ensuring the smooth functioning of the sector. The representatives of SPIK and DTI-BOI expressed their gratitude to the PNP-FEO leadership for their openness and receptiveness to their proposed action items. As the meeting came to a close, all parties walked away with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to work together towards achieving the shared goals of the Philippine Chemical Industry Roadmap.
