The objective of this meeting was to unveil the aspirational targets and prioritized actions of the three key Sub-Working Groups, namely Industry-Academe Collaboration led by Engr. Albert A. Samuela, Safer Materials and Operations led by Mr. Henry Siy, and Ease of Doing Business led by Engr. Gretchen F. Enarle. These groups are the linchpins of the broader roadmap, each striving to fortify the chemical sector’s foundations through innovative partnerships, environmental stewardship, and operational efficiencies. The day also saw an enlightening update on Strategy 5, focusing on the critical aspect of Responsible Care.
The conference room buzzed with intellectual fervor as officers from the DTI-Board of Investments and representatives from the Association of Petrochemical Manufacturers of the Philippines (APMP), Philippine Paint and Coatings Association Inc. (PPCAI), Philippine Association of Chemical Suppliers Inc. (PACSI), Fertilizer Industry Association of the Philippines (FIAP), Progressive Association of the Philippine Ink Makers (PAPIM), and Philippine Plastic Industry Association (PPIA) actively engaged in insightful discussions. Their collective presence exemplified the robust unity within the chemical industry, each organization eager to contribute to the roadmap’s visionary journey towards a more sustainable and competitive future.
The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the group collectively dissected and deliberated on the intricacies of their respective domains. The Industry-Academe Collaboration subgroup presented their innovative blueprints aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, thereby fostering a more vibrant R&D landscape. The Safer Materials and Operations team outlined their ambitious goals for enhancing safety protocols and environmental stewardship, ensuring that the industry remains a beacon of responsibility and innovation. Lastly, the Ease of Doing Business contingent shared their roadmap for streamlining processes and policies, thereby attracting more investments and propelling the sector’s growth.
