Engr. Reinier Bagabay and Engr. Albert Samuela from the Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK) shared their insights on the vast opportunities within the chemical industry during an online event hosted by the Batangas State University’s Chemical Engineering Department. The session titled “Unlocking Potential: Careers in the Philippine Chemical Industries” aimed to motivate undergraduate students and SHS learners to consider STEM paths for their futures.
Engr. Samuela provided an overview of the industry’s segments and the multitude of careers available for engineers and technicians. Engr. Bagabay emphasized the significance of the Responsible Care program, which outlines principles that ensure the chemical industry operates safely, sustainably, and responsibly. Through their expertise, they hoped to instill excitement for the field and highlight the crucial role chemistry plays in society. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry and education in fostering the next generation of innovators and leaders in chemical engineering.
