On November 14, 2024, the Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK) conducted a courtesy visit to the Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF). The primary focus of the meeting revolved around the chemical industry’s apprehensions regarding the mandatory 100% disclosure in Safety Data Sheets (SDS), which may inadvertently expose Confidential Business Information (CBI) of manufacturers to potential risks. The SPIK team, led by President Engr. Gretchen F. Enarle and Executive Director Engr. Jeffrey Mijares, along with Engr. Joy Pena and Ms. Maritoni Pascoral, participated in a productive discussion with CAIDTF Executive Officer SP/Maj. Camilo P. Cascolan, Jr.

The discussion took place in a positive atmosphere, with an open exchange of views and a shared commitment to finding a resolution that supports the industry’s interests while upholding the integrity of anti-illegal drugs operations. The CAIDTF leadership expressed willingness to collaborate with SPIK to ensure a balanced approach to the implementation of regulations, maintaining both security and confidentiality. This meeting underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation and transparency in addressing the complex challenges faced by the chemical sector.
