14 Aug SPIK Meets with TUP to Foster Strong Industry-Academe Partnership
The Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK) initiated a virtual meeting with the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Manila on August 14, 2024. Representatives of SPIK led by its President Engr. Gretchen F. Enarle and Vice President External Affairs Engr. Albert A. Samuela, together with Engr. Christopher Zaratan of BASF Philippines, and SPIK Executive Officer Ms. Antonette Fallarme met the officers of TUP comprised of Dr. Emmanuel L. Ferrer, Head of the Civil and Allied Department, and Engr. Zachariah John Belmonte, President of the TUPMTIAA Alumni Association. The focus of the discussion revolved around the integration of SPIK’s expertise into TUP’s academic framework, aiming to strengthen the latter’s efforts in aligning with the Philippine Chemical Industry Roadmap.
The proposed collaboration promised a partnership where SPIK would offer invaluable industry insights and resources for curriculum enhancement and research development. In return, TUP would provide ground for SPIK’s members to engage with engineers through internship programs and immersive experiences.
The virtual meeting served as a channel for an impending Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that would set a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership. The anticipation of this collaboration echoes with SPIK’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable growth within the industry.
