05 Sep Workshop on Third Countries and G7’s Sanctions: Decoupling Risks and Streamlining Compliance
The unprecedented G7 Sanctions against Russia, in the wake of the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, have caused considerable headaches for third states wishing to keep economic ties with it, in line with international law. In reply, Bohdan Bernatskyi, Research Fellow at EUI, Founder of Sanctions Finder and Sofia Maksymiv, Senior Analyst at the StateWatch Think Tank, Trap Aggressor project have been invited to present a “virtual workshop” on “Third Countries and G7’s Sanctions: Decoupling Risks and Compliance Streamline” which took place on September 5, 2025 on Zoom.

Sponsored by the Strategic Trade and Management Office (STMO), the event was attended by 100 government officials and industry stakeholders including the Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK).

The briefing was intended to provide local businesses with the information on the sanctions framework. It examines what happens when sanctions aren’t followed – the legal, financial and reputational impact of not playing by the rules and the role of ethical business in the world economy. In addition, the workshop presented Sanctions Finder, an essential tool in terms of transparency and alignment in line with international sanctions.
